Just want a substrate with out the tiles and beads?
I am so excited to share a brand new substrate shape, one that I find has been speaking to me more and more. I have been experimenting with mandalas and designed this shape to convey the beauty of the form while keeping it approachable for mosaic expression.
The overall size of 21” x 21” provides 1.29 square feet of surface area for your mosaic creativity. It’s cut from high-quality birch, with a built-in recess on the back to hold a 12” circular mirror. The front shows off my favorite feature, though: an engraved mandala pattern that you can follow as-is, or use as a starting point for your own imagination.
Like all my bases, this one is made from half-inch birch plywood Birch is very stable and holds up exceptionally well to glue and grout. It is also thin, light, and very easy to work with..
Each base ships with a fitted, pre-cut mirror, as well as hardware to secure it in place (and allowing for easy replacement should it ever get broken). Hanging hardware is also included; install it on the back of your creation and it's ready for the wall, bringing light and joy to you everyday!
This is a grouting package for use with my mosaic kits or online classes. It includes grout + pigment, admix, gloves, mask, and a small sponge. You will still need to provide the following: bucket of water, newspaper, lint-free polishing cloth (old t-shirts are great).
The small option includes grout sufficient for up to 2.0 sq-ft of coverage; the large option covers up to 3.0 sq-ft. See the table below for equivalents when grouting votive cups or picture frames. These are conservative estimates, but more grout may be necessary if you have exceptionally wide spacing between tesserae.
