Birdhouse Blank Base (waterproof)

from $60.00

COMING SOON: New and improved version!

As much as I love working with this base, there's always room for improvement! Luckily (since I designed this birdhouse from scratch), I can make refinements and add features, which is exactly what I did. The new version will be available very soon, so watch this space! In the meantime, check out my other birdhouse blank option.

I looked for a waterproof birdhouse for about 10 years. I finally decided I would make my own! This birdhouse is completely waterproof, has an inset roof to protect mosaic work, has drain holes, can be mounted on a mounting pole, and is very sturdy. I hope you have as much fun mosaicking it as I do. It can be displayed indoors or outdoors.

New:

  1. Magnetic door that slides down (much easier!)

  2. Black moulding on the bottom ( you don’t have to worry about your bottom pieces coming loose as you work)

  3. Add your own perch. I like to use drawer pulls. There are so many fun options

    ————————————————————

  • Dimensions: 6.75" wide, 6.25" deep, 15" high (inset roof panels 6" x 7"; inset is 3/16" deep)

  • Waterproof bonded lucite

  • Backdoor so you can clean out nests; it is held closed by strong magnets

  • Drain holes in bottom to keep baby birds dry

  • Pre-drilled holes on bottom allow for easy attachment of mounting baseplate

  • Recommended adhesive: GE Kitchen and Bath Silicone II (clear)

  • Mounting pole is not included, but you can buy one here

If you would like to display your birdhouse outdoors, I recommend hammering a 3ft rebar pipe into the ground, then slipping this mounting kit over the top.

Birdhouse Mounting Pole

These poles were made specifically fit my birdhouses and attach easily to the bottom.

Pound a 3ft piece of rebar into the ground about halfway. Then slip this pole over your rebar. This will ensure that your birdhouse will remain secure. Rebar can be found at Home Depot in short lengths.
